On Thursday 8th May the Castle Beacon and Lamp of Peace will be lit at 9.30pm in honour of VE Day, music of the era will be the order of the evening with traditional live music of the time and surprise special guest to light the beacon.

We kick off with “No Time to Lose” a new contemporary Jazz Band just after 8pm, followed  by “Just Maggie” singing songs from the past and present, these will be interspaced with wartime singalong songs and finally “Mal Pope” will be performing a few songs and lighting the beacon at exactly 9.30pm which will be seen all over Mumbles from All Saints Church to Verdis to Mumbles Village.

It’s a bring a beer event to celebrate much as they did 80 years ago (or whatever is your tipple) there’ll be singalong with old time favourites like White Cliffs of Dover or Hang out the Washing, maybe we’ll do the Lambeth Walk Oi !!
