Meet the Bees

National Waterfront Museum

Have you ever wondered what happens inside a beehive? What do bees do, and why are they so special?  Come and join our Museum Beekeeper, Alyson Williams, as she explains the life of a honeybee and all the activities you will find inside a hive.

In this hands-on session, we will provide you with a bee suit and gloves, you can then help open a hive and see all the exciting activity for yourself, where you can learn about the honeybees and inspect the hive, maybe even spot a Queen Bee.

These sessions include making wax candles, visiting the apiary, and learning about the lifecycle of honey bees, hives, and honey harvesting.

* For a family session, the recommended age is 8+
