Oystermouth Castle Open Day! 

Oystermouth Castle's annual open day returns on Saturday 19 September. 

As part of CADW's Open Doors Festival and the wider Heritage Days initiative, visitors are invited to explore Oystermouth Castle and learn more about its rich history and heritage from the Friends of Oystermouth Castle volunteer group.

  • Gwerin y Gwyr medieval warriors
  • Morgan Black of Mercia, medieval musician, singer and storyteller
  • Heritage Metal Detecting Club displaying artefacts dating back to the 11th century, including the opportunity to handle a cannonball
  • The castle's royal household, including Dave the Dragon and possibly Lady Alina
  • The Story of Mumbles, a volunteer-led local history and archive project
     
  • Guided opportunities to learn about the castle's history and heritage
  • Medieval living history displays and demonstrations
  • Historical artefacts and archaeological finds
  • Local history exhibits and community heritage projects
  • Family-friendly activities throughout the day
