About
Visit the "Shrine" in Anna's front room—Hybrid female figures, created from photocopies, paint, and drawings on cardboard are ritually assembled in her living space. This work aims to spark the magic and strangeness that exists, through artistic intervention in the urban environment of Swansea, where she lives.
Shrine is an artwork by Anna Barratt that begun in her front room between 2023 and 2025.
"A few years ago I became obsessed with a found 'shrine' or perhaps site of something magical on Jones Terrace/ Mount Pleasant. I thought how mystical, strange and magical it can be in this part of Swansea - in the centre, overlooked by the permanent phallic tower blocks. And wanted to create something equally strange, to highlight the magic in this area. So I turned the inside of my home into a short term gallery."
Anna Barratt's art practice with paint, sculpture and site based installation, centres on the vulnerable and transforming body. Her works manifest shifting, unstable forms - bodies in flux.
